Eligibility & Accounts

This section explains who can use Deans and the rules for creating an account.

Age Requirement for Registration

You must be at least 14 years old to create your own Deans account.

If you are under 14 years old, you may use Deans only with the required consent and supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized educational institution, subject to applicable local laws.

Under 14 Years

Cannot create an independent account. Parent/guardian or school-managed consent is required.

14 Years and Above

May create an individual account and use Deans in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Why This Policy?

This age requirement helps us comply with applicable data protection and child online safety laws, including the U.S. COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and Canada’s PIPEDA, as well as provincial laws such as Quebec’s requirements for minors.

School and Parent Accounts

For students under 14, a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized school can create or manage an account on the student’s behalf. Schools and parents are responsible for ensuring appropriate use and compliance with these Terms.
